Things to Consider . . . if You Think You are Ready for Sex
Goosie’s Advice Tip #1 "Don't Be a Babe in The Woods" Ask Goosie and she will squawk till she is blue in the beak about birth control. She will tell you to learn about the different kinds and effectiveness of birth control. Then she will tell you to make a decision about which method would be best for you and remind you to actually follow through in using it. Fact: Did you know that a sexually active teen who does NOT use contraceptives has a 90% chance of becoming pregnant within a year? Okay, what if you did a big “OOPS!” here? Ask yourself these questions: Would Mom and Dad be on board for you to bring a baby home? Would you or Happy Pants want to start being responsible parents before you are done being kids? Are you willing to work long hours in a crappy job for little or nothing pay to support your insta-family? Are you willing to sacrifice college for a full-time, life-long job to raise a child…because you won’t have the time or energy or money to further your education for a decent career? Could you live with having an abortion or giving your baby up for adoption? Fact: Only twenty percent of teen moms marry, which leaves the other eighty percent to raise their babies on their own. Teen dads sometimes make empty promises to marry the mother of their baby and to financially support the baby, but many teen dads do not follow through. Goosie’s Advice Tip #2 "Why Buy The Cow When You Can Get the Milk For Free?" Goosie wants to know if you feel morally comfy with your decision to have sex before marriage? If you do not feel like you need to be a virgin and "save yourself" for your beloved husband, just remember, where do you draw the line? How many quacky partners are "too many"? 5-10-50? Goosie thinks that if you are having sex with your boyfriend, and maybe even eventually living with him, what would be a good reason for him to want to marry you? And do you really want to marry him? Getting married is a commitment you make which is not always easy, but worth the struggles…with the right birdbrain. Do you think that the majority of couples have found the right match in their teens that lasts throughout a lifetime? Fact: It is believed that more than 1/2 who marry in their teens will be divorced within 15 years. Goosie’s Advice Tip #3 “An Ounce of Prevention is Worth a Pound of Cure” If you ask Goosie, she will tell you to learn about all of the different sexually transmitted diseases/infections that you could possibly get and the consequences of each one. (If Happy Pants tells you he is "as Pure as the Driven Snow" you will believe it because...you want to. If you still end up with an STD, U-R- STupiD.) Fact: Did you know that of the 18.9 million new cases of STDs each year, 48% occur among 15-24 year-olds. Although 15-24 year-olds represent only one-quarter of the sexually active population, they account for nearly half of all new STD’s each year. Goosie’s Advice Tip #4 “Better Safe Than Sorry” Goosie wants you to know that “Oral Sex” is NOT a safe alternative to sexual intercourse. Teens who believe oral sex is the safe alternative to intercourse, both from pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, are sadly mistaken. The statistics prove otherwise. Millions of unconscious-minded teenagers become infected with STD's each year. Oral sex is just another dead-end street which teens are taking, and then becoming infected. Goosie’s Advice Tip #5 “Don’t Give it Up to Just any Tom, Dick or Harry” Remember that you are special no matter what you decide to do regarding sex, but if you are doing it with any Tom, Dick or Harry, it is not going to mean much to anyone by the time it is all said and done.
