Another IVF Baby Born to Another 70-year Old Mother

70-year-old Rajo Devi brought a baby girl into the world after an IVF treatment at an Indian medical centre. It is unclear whose egg and sperm were used in this successful IVF treatment. However, these new “aging” parents are not giving out any information regarding that. They are thrilled that they finally conceived after trying for decades. They were married fifty years and they have had to put up with gossip for being childless. Devi's husband, aged 72, was first married to Rajo’s sister which did not produce any offspring and also a second wife with the same outcome. Rajo and Devi, desperate to conceive, contacted the Hisar fertility centre in Haryana state of India for help. They were told that it would be high-risk for Rajo to become pregnant. It would also be dangerous for the child developing in the womb. However, after many tests, the doctors thought that she was strong enough to go through the pregnancy and childbirth. The next hurdle would be to get Rajo pregnant. After her in-vitro treatment, Rajo was told the delightful news of her pregnancy. The doctor who assisted Rajo with the pregnancy said that he did not foresee any problems for her or the child except for the fact that the child would be an “orphan” when she was still young. That would be when the extended family will take over the care of the child and raise her, he said.
